My Lifestyle Journey – 10 Week Plan

Today is Day 1 of my new lifestyle!

Gosh! I cannot believe that I am writing this at Midnight which is something I should not be doing.  I should be in bed by 11pm every night for the next 10 weeks.  Is that even doable? My coach said that I have to be in bed by 11pm.  Well that is something I will have to ease into gently.

Anyway, this is just to document how Day 1 went on the Creating Curves 10 Week Challenge with Jessica Craft.  I am not really one for fitness, however, after seeing the results of my friend Andrea, when I heard that Jessica was doing another one I just had to get involved.

I had a really busy weekend and only got round to reading the 2 documents that Jessica had prepared for me.  The first one was a Personalised Nutrition Meal Planner which has all of the foods that I can eat and all of the foods that I am not allowed to eat are mentioned and the reason why I have been put on the plan.

The second document is a Personalised Training Plan, which states the exercises that I need to do on a daily basis in order to reach the body fitness and health goals I set for myself.

To my surprise when I went through both of these documents I realised that half of the foods that I love are no longer a part of my life 🙁

All of a sudden, I am eating 6 meals a day instead of 2 and I am drinking 3ltrs of water a day, flavoured with lime or lemon for taste and at least 5 green teas as a minimum.  Believe you me, I feel like my body is drowning in water.

Thank goodness coffee is still on the menu, albeit black with no sugar (the caffeinated) version.  Although I only drink de-caffeinated coffee, however, I am required to drink the caffeinated brew prior to a workout.  So I will drink it at that time of the day and see how I get on.

Pret Coffee cropped

I am prescribed by Jessica to take all kinds of exercise from cardio to lifting weights.  To be honest I am quite looking forward to lifting weights I have always admired people doing it and I would love to increase my upper body strength.

In the office today a colleague was teasing me, and saying that I will turn into one of those “Glute Girls” I was like – what are you talking about?  I did not know what this meant or that this was even a thing, until I looked up the hashtag on Instagram.  Oh my goodness!  Right before my eyes was the very goal I was looking for.  Amazing women with awesome bodies, big glutes and small waists.  I don’t think I have seen my waist go smaller than 30″ in many years.  However, I am willing to give it a try.

I would like to keep my curves which are all in the right places, and loose my baby belly, love handles and muffin top.  I can’t believe I actually wrote that on my blog!! Anyway, I did and I am not going to delete it.  That is the truth.  What’s the point in blogging about my Lifestyle Journey if I am going to edit the hell out of every post.  That does not make any sense to me and besides I am doing this for ME and it’s my goal.

I decided to document my new lifestyle journey to keep me in practice with my writing and as everyone knows I love journalling and my blog needs some much needed TLC and regular content so this was perfect time for me to share this part of my life, which is something I am truly passionate about achieving for health reasons as well as the desire to feel better in my clothes and myself.

My Food Intake Today

So here goes, today I only managed to start eating at 1.30pm, which is shocking.  I did however, have a black coffee about 10.30 with a colleague.  I ate 2 meals with fish and vegetables.  I also had my yummy apple and a large handful of wasabi peas after realising I am not meant to eat them as I messages Jessica to double check so I am truly upset as that has been my favourite snack items for a while.  I cooked my meal tonight but had to eat it in a rush before my ZOOM coaching call.  I did manage to prepare a lunch ready for tomorrow and I made a coconut chia desert with a sprinkle of gluten free oats.  I just need to remember to take it to work in the morning.

My Exercise Today

Unfortunately, I did not get to the gym, as I left the office at 7pm and needed to rush home to prepare for an online class that I was teaching to women in my community starting their side-hustles and learning how to use social media soulfully.

However, I wanted to make sure that I got some exercise in at the end of the day so I got of the bus 3 stops early and briskly walked up to my car to drive home.

My Overall Feelings After Today

I feel ok. I just need to be prepared and organised for the week ahead and try and make  exercise a priority to fit into my schedule.  Other than that Day 1 was actually ok.

You see I reckon that if I exercise, I will be able to eat exactly what I want.  So let’s see how I get on tomorrow.

Right now it’s time for bed and I am soooo tired.

Wow, congrats on starting your lifestyle journey! That’s very exciting! I know what you mean about drowning in water. It feels like a LOT of liquid to be consuming, but your body will love it – trust me. Best of luck to you in your journey.

Thanks Bianca. I know it will take time, every day my body is getting more and more used to it. I just like the fact that with drinking more water, my body gets to feel fuller for longer 🙂

Tracy, I admire your commitment ! Your journey is inspiring ~ I didn’t know that caffeine before a workout was beneficial. Keep up the good vision .

Thanks Kendall. Let me just say the struggle is real. I have never worked this hard at sticking to an overall lifestyle plan. Yes, aparently caffeine is supposed to be great pre-work out. I am willing to do everything Jessica says, I am trusting the process <3

    Hi,
Congrats on getting started and finding the motivation. Some say getting started is the hardest.
Next is to get and keep the momentum.
News tip: it is not an either or game, both exercise and choosing better foods is a must to get good results.
Stay with it. For me, exercising with a class at a specific time works well.
Without that, I keep postponing the exercise until after the gym is closed.

    Blog on!

Hey Doug! Lol I love that, “…keep postponing exercise until the after the gym is closed”. Accountability in numbers is the key! Just writing in this blog challenge is giving me the accountability I need to get through this so I appreciate every comment. Thanks for your supportive words.

I started my healthy eating plan in July and I never thought I could give up sugary desserts and sweet tea, but I did it! I know don’t even miss it. My next step was to start an exercise routine, easier said than done. I’m still trying to work on that but I am very active at work so I’m using that for now! Good luck on your challenge, I find the water is drowning me at times too!

Oh Martha! That sounds so encouraging that you were able to give up sugary desserts and sweet teas. They are both of my weaknesses. I am looking forward to the days where I do not crave these foods anymore. The exercise I have learnt can come in many creative forms, being active with your daily life is also a routine exercise. Nice to know I am not the only one drowning in water 🙂 Thanks for your support.

Thank you so much Minette, yes change is difficult. I am a coach and I know how hard it is for my clients. I am constantly challenging myself to be and do better so my journey will be documented to support myself first in terms of accountability, and if it inspires you and anyone else then that is a bonus. Thanks for following along, really appreciate your support 🙂
