Let’s Celebrate National Book Lovers Day

National Book Lovers Day is today 9th August!

Well I am totally blown away.  I did not even realise this was a thing, until my twitter feed started going crazy this morning with notifications from bloggers and writers communities who were tweeting and hashtaging #bookloversday.  See that’s why I love twitter.  It’s where I find out most things I need to know.

Of course I was curious, and started following the twitter stories to find out more.  As a new author myself, I was overwhelmed to see how many women writers there are in the self-publishing community.  All doing their thing – writing, sharing, YouTubing their way into the eyes of interested readers.

Women really are doing it for themselves in any way they can to become published authors, as it takes a lot of work. Writing the book is just the start, marketing the book to launch and beyond is another story (pardon the pun).  Seriously – you need a ton of energy and motivation to keep on keeping on until those sales come in, but I am so sure it is worth every minute of it. I am really looking forward to doing more speaking and interviews during the launch of the anthology.  There is no time to sit around and wait for a publishing deal to come our way.  When you have a burning desire to create something in literary format, you just got to get to it and make it happen to get your book and out into the world and into the hands of those that would love to read you.

My writing journey has evolved over the years.  Blogging has always been a passion of mine from back in 2009.  I started so many blogs, lost interest in the topic and shut them down.  Whereas writing, I could write forever, it comes easy to me and I love it as much as I do reading books.

My current blog, my new online home ‘The Feminine Code’ is so me, and I am delighted that I have stuck with it.  I still feel inspired to write posts, even though I don’t always publish regularly and consistently enough due to thinking I need to add more content or look for a better picture (there are more than a few draft posts waiting to be published).  Anyway, for August I have given up those blog sabotaging beliefs.  The main thing is, I enjoy writing and creating content for my visitors to enjoy and I refuse to get caught up on that stuff anymore.  I am here to write freely as this is my creative space, my online home, my blog.

Writing is a passion of mine that I picked up again whilst recovering from burnout.  Journalling as a self-care practice became my way to heal.  I would just pick up my notebook and pen and start writing, pouring out from my heart and soul any thoughts or feelings that needed to flow out of my head and body, onto paper.  Negative or positive it just needed to come out.  It always feels good to release that form of energy through journalling, which is a very insightful way to move forward and gain clarity in your life or business.

It was in a moment of journalling and meditating, that brought my awareness to the fact that I needed to share my health journey in a way that helps me to heal and hopefully will help other women to discover how to deal with and overcome burnout and exhaustion too.  It was a very difficult time in my life, and I am happy to say that am almost fully recovered, however, I have spoken to so many women recently that have expressed how lonely it feels when you go through burnout, exhaustion, depression.  It can be a dark place where nobody else understands how you feel or the impact your current situation has impacted your whole life.

Reading books and blogs written by women for women sharing their stories helped me so much.  I knew the moment I got emotionally moved by their experiences, that my time had come to get involved by blogging and sharing my health journey too.

I have quite a few books that I have bought and not read yet.  The picture in this post is a selection of books that I randomly dip in and out of, for feminine wisdom, insight, knowledge, empowerment and spiritual guidance.  I love the way that I can pick up any one of these books, turn to a page, and find the answer to a challenge I may be dealing with.  Or, I may find some wise womanly words of wisdom that I can share with a friend in need.

National Book Lovers Day is wonderful day to celebrate, for everyone who loves and adores reading and writing.  I always used to dream of being a writer and kept many diaries and journals during my childhood right up to my adult years.  Some I can find easily if I tried hard enough, and some I know I have lost in the many house moves and life clearances.  It is the memories that I live for whilst I can still remember, that keep me sane, strong and happy.  Who knows maybe one day I will write a memoir!

May every book lover celebrate today and continue to enjoy reading and writing books today and every day!
