5 Ways To Find Your Flow

There are times in your life when you just cannot get out of your funk in order to get stuff done.  So you end up not doing anything about it and before you know it one day, one week or even one month or so later you are back in the same place wondering why you have not tackled that task yet.

Well there are a few things that you can do to get back into your flow and get stuff done.  I have listed 5 ways that help me to find my flow and can help you too.

Trust me, if you try one of these methods I am sure it will work for you, just as it has worked for me many times now.

1. Listening To Music

How many times have you heard a song that you love and you end up moving your body, tapping your feet or swaying your hips? Well, in my world music is the soul of life.  I could not be without music.  It is uplifting and mood enhancing.  I have created a playlist on Spotify to help my find my flow.  It is filled with 70’s, 80’s, 90’s classics, as well as a bit of Abba, Earth Wind & Fire, you know all the tunes that you can sing along to because you know all of the words.

This is a great way to shift stale energy and invite vibrant new energy into a space and into your environment which in turn will enhance your feelings, once your feelings are enhanced your energy levels rise and there you have it your flow is restored once more.

2. Mindful Walking

I love a good walk and every Sunday morning, myself and a friend go for a 10k walk locally and then stop for a coffee and brunch.  This is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and speak to my accountability buddy about my week and then I listen to how her week was and what she has planned for the week ahead.

We have been doing this walk for a bout 1 year now and we meet every Sunday without fail, rain or shine.  Sometimes, we do alot of talking and at other times we are just happy to be walking and taking in the surroundings.

3. Taking A Power Nap

Sometimes, we are just exhausted and having a power nap can sometimes be the one thing to help you get your creative juices and energy flowing again.  The beauty about taking a power nap is that you can do it wherever you are at that time. On a bus or train, at home on the sofa or in the office in the rest room.

All you need to do is close your eyes, set your timer and nap for up to 60 minutes.  This will revive and refresh you, just as if you have had a good 8 hours sleep.  Studies have shown that having a power nap in the middle of the day restores your energy and productivity and also sparks creativity as the brain has had a chance to power down before it ramps up again to rise to the next activity.

4. Reading A Good Book

I love reading books.  However as a busy mum I do not have much time to sit down and read a good book, no matter how good the book is supposed to be.  Thank goodness for technology.  Nowadays I can listen to a whole book on “Audible Map” on-the-go!

5. Travel To A New Destination

If your energy seems to still be stuck in the funk, then why not book yourself a holiday.  Travelling is a definite flow booster.  Every time I travel to a new location, I always come back more inspired with new ideas to take action on.  You do not even need to get on a plane and go far, you can book somewhere on the coast in the UK.

If you do not want to be away from home you can go out to a museum, theatre, national trust garden or even a new cafe. Any of these places will spark off your creativity and help you to get back into flow.

So, there you have it my 5 ways to find your flow and get your mojo back!
